Taxation | High Net Worth Individuals

As from 2011, The High Net Worth Individuals rules have substituted the Permanent Residence Scheme, and provide for a special tax rate for High Net Worth indivudals taking up residency in Malta.

Persons qualifying as HNWI taking up residency in Malta may benefit from a beneficial tax rate of 15% on all foreign income received in Malta, upon the satisfaction of a number of conditions.

Such a person would be taxable on Malta source income at the regular progressive rates.

He/she would not be taxable in Malta on any foreign sourced Capital Gains, even if they are remitted to Malta.

He/she would not be taxable in Malta on any foreign sourced in come which is not received in Malta.
