About Malta | Geography & Climate

Malta is sitiated about 80km south of Siciliy. It measures 316 Sq Km in land area making it one of the World’s smallest states.

The country coastline is indented with several bays and harbours. The landscape consists of a number of hills and fields. Malta’s highest point is at 253m. There are no permanent rivers or lakes, however ther are a number of fresh watercourses all year round.

Malta has a subtropical Mediterranean Climate with mild winters and very hot summers. The average temperature during January, the coldest month, ranges between 12 to 20 degrees centigrade during the day and between 7 to 12 degrees centigrade during the night. The average temperature during August, the hottest month, ranges between 28 to 34 degrees centigrade during the day and 19 to 24 degrees centigrade during the night.
